#90: Weekly Coaching and Audition Recap

Friday 11/1/24

Welcome to FRIDAY! Another weekly recap of coachings, auditions, SHOWS I SAW, and the show of the month update.

COACHINGS

Actually, I fear all the entries today are going to be quite bland but I’ll try. Since last Friday, I’ve only had 7 coachings. When I saw it SLOWS DOWN going into the end of October I really do mean that. I was supposed to film prescreens for one of my students on Sunday but they ended up being sick so we had to reschedule which meant I HAD A WEEKEND OFF IN OCTOBER. AND, i didn’t have any show tickets or anything so I truly just cleaned a bit and relaxed. The next few weeks look pretty slim too - which is fine - I can get a lot done for the new studio and maybe even get to a few auditions myself! One thing that I think can be taken away from this past week though, is that you can only work with the voice you are in today. You can’t worry about what you did yesterday or that morning or last week. You have to be able to get through the audition or the show without judging yourself based on what you “did yesterday”.

AUDITIONS

….. I can’t stress how much I only filmed prescreens and watched Girlmore Girls this entire month. But hold me to it. 4 auditions in November. Even with being out of town next week a bit. FOUR. HOLD ME TO IT.

SHOWS I SAW

My weekly reign of seeings show is over BUT I am seeing RAGTIME at City Center on Sunday night! I’ll have a full report next week.

SHOW OF THE MONTH

Ok, this is a crazy one. Next up: WONDERLAND. I’ve never seen it and only have heard like 2 of the songs. I’ve worked on Mad Hatter and Once More I Can See with students and i THINK there is a song called “Home” in it. Side note - how many songs called HOME do we need? More I think. Definitely more.
