#95: Weekly Coaching & Audition Recap
Friday 11/8/24
Welcome to FRIDAY! Another weekly recap of coachings, auditions, SHOWS I SAW, and the show of the month update.
COACHINGS
I am SO HAPPY in my new space. I’m figuring things out piece by piece but this past week i’ve worked with about 8 people in person plus zoom. But those 8 were so informative. Figuring out sound and lighting and general space is so fun. The only thing I want to share about learnings from the last week re: coaching is about the mental game of “singing with the voice i have today”. How do you battle that? I think it is about an audition, whether taped or not, is a moment in time. You get no re-dos in person. You have to be able to walk away and be happy. And if you aren’t? Good, have a short term memory.
AUDITIONS
STARTING OUT NOVEMBER STRONG WITH NONE! But i did SEE a show I auditioned for, paid $100 for a ticket, paid $50 for dinner, $15 for tolls, and $30 for parking! I’ve still got my eyes on the FOUR countdown. I can’t imagine I’ll have any next week since I’ll be in Columbus til Tuesday afternoon but we’ll see.
SHOWS I SAW
Welp, you got my Ragtime recap entitled “WHERE DID CHEST VOICE GO”. Here’s the tea… I only have tickets to 2 events for the rest of 2024. 1) Wicked movie on 11/20 and 2) my friends kids in The Nutcracker. I fear this may be light!
SHOW OF THE MONTH
WONDERLAND! Here we go! I made my way through the recording and definitely have some highlights. One Knight is so funny and I totally forgot this song was from Wonderland. So boy band coded. I think THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS could be a REALLY fun little audition cut. I know it is a duet but it can still work as a solo. The melody is SO catchy. I also loved Darren Ritchie on I AM MY OWN INVENTION. This could be the right song for someone -potentially with an opt up at the end!
