#125: Weekly Audition & Coaching Recap
Friday 12/20/24
Welcome to Friday! We will be reviewing auditions, coachings, shows I saw and ROLE PREP!
AUDITIONS
So I didn’t have any auditions but I did a LOT of submissions. I submitted for like 7-8 projects and DRUM ROLLLLLL…. One of this i got an audition for! You already know that because I got the audition info on Monday and as you are reading this I am filming that audition with a friend. I feel pretty ready and prepped. It’ll be fun to get through the sides as it is A LOT. But, in a very busy week with coachings I really got a lot done on my pre-work. Honestly, I haven't put this much work in for an audition in like…. YEARS. I’m not holding my breath that I’ll get the job, but I was happy and excited to do this work. And hopefully, at the very least, i just have a solid audition.
COACHINGS
THE WEEK WAS FULL! Jeez… I always forget that the week leading up to Christmas is a bit wild for me because school stuff is pausing a bit and my students are really about to get into audition mode. I spent a lot of time on more material like pop songs and 2nd contemporary monologues lol. Pop songs continue to be tough to think of for students so VOICE TEACHERS OF THE WORLD - you gotta work in pop/folk/rock/whatever ONCE in a while. We gotta train in everything even if you or they arent the best in that genre. The musical theatre world demands it. Even Come from Away and Legally Blonde as for pop songs. And those are shows that aren’t necessarily “pop”!
SHOWS I SAW
Sadly I didn’t see any shows - but I do have very special tickets to something on SATURDAY!
ROLE PREP
This week got a little nuts with this new audition so my work on filming the songs from DEH had to get moved to another time. I will get through those next week or the week after most likely but I had to focus on this new audition. However, I did get to work through all the backup vocals for You Will Be Found and the finale. The harmonies in this show are both expected AND unexpected haha. More to come next week on this work!
