#85: Weekly Coaching & Audition Recap
Friday 10/25/24
Welcome to FRIDAY! Another weekly recap of coachings, auditions, SHOWS I SAW, and the show of the month update.
COACHINGS
I am back to a bit of my regular schedule. The first half of the week was busy through the evenings but then i had my last “til 10” day til next year! This is my busiest time of the year especially trying to manage clients on the west coast. Mostly i had a few outstanding “final” coachings before students film prescreens on their own. While most people come to NJ to film, there are still plenty who work with me totally virtually. This can be complex for them to figure out where to film, how to shoot, how to discern their best takes, learning how to edit! It’s daunting. I try to help them out as much as possible but they definitely have many components they have to execute on their own.
AUDITIONS
Do I need to remove this section at this point lol. I had none… AGAIN. I’m sure this will pick up now that this wild season is done. But also, I haven’t seen much that is even auditioning yet.
SHOWS I SAW
I saw THE MUSIC MAN at the Cranford Dramatic Club! I love love love The Music Man. So many amazing audition songs:
Ya Got Trouble - great for any talk/sung role, even like a Devil in Damn Yankees
Goodnight My Someone - love the creation of this idea “goodnight my… someone”, gorge soprano singing
The Sadder but Wiser Girl - good for so many classic musicals, i could see a Horace Vandegelder role auditioning with this
My White Knight - great cut from “and if occasionally…” gotta have that huge Ab! Remember, this is not about the wistfulness of dreaming for a man.
Will I Ever Tell You - simply and thoughtful, not too high
Gary Indiana - great for kids!
Til There Was You - can be done as a solo for anyone! Totally a standard, throw it in any key
SHOW OF THE MONTH
Working my way through the slime tutorial again. I’m more focused this time. It’s becoming easier to piece together what is happening haha
